I hate to lose Leipsic, but this adds to our depth in a big way. We have the best defense in the league now, hands down. I'll hold off judgement until I see how Franson and Santo fit in. Sad to lose our 1st, which pretty much bars us from any other big moves, but wow are we deep.

I wonder if we keep these two around after this year, and what we pay them if we do.

Unless Santorelli has gotten alot better since his past Pred days (which is possible, he's been in the East and I haven't seen him much), then he's useless. I'd rather have kept Leipsic.

Hate give a 1st for Cody even though I really like the guy. The rest is ok I guess not a Leipsic fan and I would have moved Stalbergs contract instead of Olli. This gives the team added defensive depth for the run and 3rd line in Santo.

This sould put the Kessel thing to bed unless Poile is going to go the route of moving Jones for him and plans to resign Cody. May well provide more into what Lavi did juggling lines last night as well. Making decisions where guys will end up.

Could well be the only move made. Im pretty sure im right that puts us at 50 contracts. Time will tell.

This will probably sound stupid but I've always had a feeling that Leipsic may not have wanted to play here, judging by his social media posts. They were 97% about how much he loves Winnipeg and the Jets, and not a thing about being a Preds prospect. Maybe he would have been okay playing here, but I think he really wants to be a Jet. I could be wrong but it's just a vibe I got.

He's gonna be a great player no doubt.

I'm curious to see how Santorelli plays under Lavy, and with Jarnkrok (assuming he plays on the third line).

If you look at his career PPG pace it equals out to around 30 points per season, on average. However, if you take out his 32 games playing in Nashville for some pretty terrible offensive teams and under Trotz suddenly he jumps to a 40 point per season player. If he can produce at a 35-40 point pace playing third line minutes he is a solid pick up.

The only way I can see Poile being willing to give up Jones for Kessel now is if he made this trade so he could discuss an extension for Franson before pulling the trigger, which is plausible.

But I still don't see it. Franson is 28, and Ellis has shown he can play second pair minutes effectively. Ellis has also been very good on the power play, even if it's just creating something without getting a point.

Anything could happen. Poile likely isn't managing for a lot longer, so maybe he decides to make some majors moves to go all in this year and next.

Fiala, Arvidsson, Aberg, Watson all ahead of Leipsic in terms of development. Probably Salomaki too. Leips is a great prospect but is undersized and didn't score enough goals this season.

Santorelli provides that 3rd line scoring presence we need. Franson added makes us have the best D corps in the league by far.

I agree, removing the 1st from the equation puts Jones directly in the crosshairs for a top 6 upgrade. And giving up a 1st a top 4 d guy that you will lose at the end of the season is not really in Poiles comfort zone. Regardless we have a better team this morning than we did last night and did not give up very much.

That's an awful lot for Franson if Ellis is actually coming back soon.... that's Franson to the 3rd pairing playing his off-hand instead of Bartley - Ellis gets his PP spot back so Franson there is temp, too.

Santorelli is is a SLIGHT upgrade offensively on Beck/Bourque on the 3rd, but enough to offset the play in the corners and energy? Not so sure.

Poile is a smart guy - methinks this means Ellis is a ways away yet, unless we're moving Ellis or Jones in a deal.

You guys got a great player in Santorelli. He's such a hard worker and you notice him every shift. Fast, hard on the puck and creates chances. Solid player to add for a Cup run. Your forward depth just got much improved.

I know its better for our pick you guys lose but the difference between ~24-30 is nothing. I really hope we pick 30th.

Hope you guys win the Cup! I really like Santa and Franson has played very well in a role he wasnt really fit to play so he should really excel in a top 4 instead of top 2 role.

Plus both players are familiar with the Preds.

I thought Peterson slipped up when he said Ellis would be back not this week, but the end of the next. He is close
