Stamkos isn't exactly what his younger self was, but he is still an elite level player, and the captain. People seem to take this for granted. Skill alone isn't what this team is about. They grew together, won multiple cups, led by Stamkos.

Simply letting him walk after his contract is up is unacceptable. Losing him will hurt.
