How come they didn't give Santos an Assist on Amadio's 50th Goal.......he tipped it back to Amadio at the Blueline.
Then he scores the winner and the OHL gave credit to Mackenzie.....Whats going on OHL?

Any word on the injuries to Vertiy or Bruce?

And how long until Poirier can return?

Interesting to think, but it's nice to have a third pairing that's played as well as they have recently. Last year, we were a 4D team all playoffs, this year that likely won't be the case. Of course missing out on the overage top-pairing of Miller-McIvor is going to be noticeable, but the top pairing this year has been absolutely outstanding playing heavy minutes all year.

Bruce will be back for game 1 of play offs. Verity is very likely.

Nb 3 BAR 2 (S/O)

Some miscellaneous ramblings from today's game:

Barrie rested #1 goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, solid backup David O. had the game; NB played #1 Jake Smith, wonder why.

Points not dressed: BAR 478, NB 60.

Hopefully there were no injuries on either side. Brilliant high glove wrist shot by Cam Dineen for the win. JK1 was outstanding in the S/O, and the 5 min. O/T proved once again why this was introduced.

Thanks to Belair for the charts. I remember these from previous seasons, well done. Here are some additional comparisons which might be of interest:

Players with 20 or more goals: NB 3, PBO 6; 10 or more goals: NB 9, PBO 8; 40 or more points: NB 5, PBO 7.

Mike Baird

Except for the timing being quite bad, this situation doesn't bother me at all. I have asked here, and wished a media member would ask Coach/GM: Why is Mike Baird on the active roster?

2nd round pick, 30th overall 2013, Career 132 GP, 10G + 15A = 25, -24. Playoffs 16, 0+0=0.

Besides a knack for taking bad penalties at inopportune times, and the occasional suspension (how many now, 3,4?), what does he bring to the team? The Battalion have plenty of 3-5 goal scorers, they do not have to have Mike taking up a roster spot. We shouldn't lose track of the fact that in his lone playoff game appearance in 2014, he throttled a linesman and received a 20 game suspension.

Have to agree. Baytoday's Chris Dawson called him an Enforcer...two fights on the year, one of those with a goalie doesn't make you an enforcer!

Here are a couple of factoids, which while indicative of nothing, might be mildly interesting:

1) Battalion string of Playoffs Game 1 shutouts ends at 2

2014 NIA 0 at NB 4 (Att.: 3,410)
2015 KGN 0 at NB 6 (Att.: 3,437)
2016 PBO 1 at NB 2 (Att.: 3,392)

2) Prior to last night's brilliant game-winner, Brett Hargrave's regular season looked something like this:

During 1 magical stretch in Feb., Brett scored 7 goals in 9 games. In the rest of the season, he got all the way up to 3 in his other 50 games.

However, 100% of all playoff games in which Brett plays for his hometown team he has scored.

I had a stats teacher tell me, statistics prove nothing and statistics prove everything. But don't get me wrong, I love looking at these kind of numbers

Also, the return of Verity last night was welcome. First shift out and lays a great hit that had my girlfriend say "Baird who?"

...I love the way Baird plays WHEN under control but that is too seldom......his timing s off...some of the Batts need a guy to rde shotgun..a guy lke McGuire takes liberties that go unanswered...if JS is the games best goalie Battalion win every game this series..

Love how the fourth line played last night. Both Kislinger and Brazeau threw their weight around and controlled the tempo while they were on the ice. Even if they don't show up on the scoresheet, that kind of play helps out in a big way. It's early, but that kind of play is reminiscent of the Jarvis-Lewis-Santos line from two years ago.

OHL wake up. Get some quality referees in this league. Scott Ferguson and Sean Pindar are f@#$/^& terrible. Pete's full value for the win today, played better then us, not a problem. Those 2 s#$* refs are reason for me to stop going to junior games...god awful...GOD AWFUL.
