I love when undrafted guys work their way all the way up from ECHL to NHL deals. This guy was playing in the LNAH back in 2020, and now he appears headed for at least a cup of coffeee in the NHL!
Given the veteran forwards in the system I'd imagine it's more of the latter. Also interesting that Thompson was jettisoned the same weekend. I'd imagine it was done to effect the locker room in Utica.
4th line didn't get many minutes overall, with Bastian & Tierney both under 8 1/2 minutes including PK time for both.
Ton of penalties called both ways in this game, including a 5 minute major PP for the Devils which was going to limit his minutes - Devils were also trying to defend a lead in the 3rd period, which further cut down his ice time.
Don't think he did anything wrong or got injured - just more of how the game played out. It happens.
