Sharks fan here in peace!

I love Spaling and would be very interested in him.

Would just a pick deal would?
Maybe a 2nd+Brown/Scott?

Brown/Scott are only so you can fill the spot that is left by Spaling.

You should have made an offer for defenseman Simon Despres instead and some posters here would have offered you Crosby or Malkin in reply rather than lose their favorite player.

What about Martin and Spaling for Hertl?

We love Nick Spaling, too! Going to take a huge package for us to move him, I think.

Just do the 2nd for Spaling and you got a deal.

How bout Spaling for a 2nd.

I would like to send a player back to clear a roster spot without having to waive anyone, would prefer it to be one of Brown, Burish, Scott, Irwin, or Hannan but seeing as you have an excess on defense Irwin and Hannan aren't a fit. Scott has actually not been that bad. If you expect him to be a top 9 player well you're out of luck, but he has been better than many expected. Had a couple snipes this season too.

Brown is a very speedy skater that can hit.

Burish has been streaky in the AHL this year.

Scott for Spaling and a draft pick is fine. The team gets a legitimate enforcer as well as save some cap space.

Has Spaling been that bad?

Even if spaling is bad, the pens are not in a position to deal nhl caliber wingers at the moment

No but everyone here expects 20 goals from a 2.2 million dollar player.

He's a good depth guy. Looks good when playing on the 3rd line but really can't doing anything more than that.

No, STT just has a massive fetish towards enforcers. He hasn't been bad, but he is kinda just there. He doesn't really do anything good or bad.

Well we could always send Brown, Burish, AND Scott to Pittsburgh for more enforcers. :sarcasm:

That makes sense. I'm in the majority of Sharks fans hoping to move Pavelski back to centering the 3rd line.
With Spaling we would be able to do that
Nieto-Thornton-Hertl
Marleau-Couture-Wingels
Sheppard-Pavelski-Spaling
McGinn-Desjardins-Goodrow/Karlsson

Looks like Simon has a date with Mr. Norris Trophy and chat with another NHL Defense Legend Bobby Orr, so he can explain to Bobby what he did wrong during his career.:naughty:

Simon Despres +8
Brent Seabrook + 2

Despres >> Letang, Doughty, Suter, Yandle, Seabrook.

I don't expect him to score 20 goals.

I expect, for 2.2M, the kind of effort that Farnham, Rust, Downie, Comeau, etc... give.

Spaling exists. I can find people who exist for less than 2.2

No doubt Simon could teach Brent something about playing D in this league and Brent need not bring his two Stanley Cup rings to the instructional seminar.:sarcasm:

Simon Despres +8
Niklas Kronwall -3

Despres >> Letang, Doughty, Suter, Yandle, Seabrook, Kronwall.

All this time I thought you had to actually watch guys play and understand individual assignments when understanding which players to blame for goals agt.

You showth the light. Plus minus is where it's at baby.

Now we know Despres is better than most of the top blueliners in the league.
