Can't see Joseph going for under 2.5M short term.
Maybe 2.5M x 3 years
More likely 3M x 2 years.

I think the Senators want a contract similar or less than what they offered to Paul at a maximum unless Joseph continues to score at a high rate similar to what he has done so far.

Should have kept him AND acquired Joseph but…oh well

Looking forward to seeing him in the playoffs. Glad to see he’s doing alright in Tampa so far.

Not sure if we have any other player Tampa would want. Maybe MDZ if we retain 50%?

It would be cool to see Paul come back to Ottawa as a UFA, especially if he wins a cup with TB

What Paul brings to the table is considerable but it also has a financial ceiling to it.

The league is diverging with an increasing percentage of money going to the stars. Notwithstanding that there is probably less separation between stars and muckers than there's ever been, the money is flowing to the stars. Over paying the muckers doesn't work. Neither does overpaying the stars. But Paul's ask was an overpayment.

So who does Ottawa trade instead of Paul that gets Joseph and gives Tampa a valuable defensive player with some offensive upside for their upcoming playoff run??? Answer: Nobody else so why even make that comment?
