If any low-level minor leaguer deserves his own retirement thread, it's Nick Niedert.

I'd say he deserves his own thread, if not a whole forum. I do hope he writes a book. I'll pre-ordered now.... If any low-level minor leaguer deserves his own retirement thread, it's Nick Niedert. ...
If there was anyone tracking his ebug/backup appearances it would require a whole thread just to list them. He only played in four games in Reading, but was as much a legend here as anywhere else he played. I would bet he was on the bench for at least ten times as many games as he played here. The team doesn't often auction/sell/raffle the ebug jerseys, but they could have made a bundle on his if they had. The league(s) should really do something as a permanent recognition of his service to hockey. I know he probably wore a bunch of different numbers over the years because he just got whatever jersey what available as an ebug or temporary fill in, but they should pick a number and retire it across the ECHL/SPHL/FPHL in his honor. Hang a banner in every building....and doesn't include games he sat in as EBUG/back-up

Read the book.I'm hoping he did...that would be a great list to see.
No LNAH assignments in his hockeyDB profile, either. Might be an issue with border crossing now, though.Seriously some NHL team with nothing to play for should sign him to a one day contract and have him play for a period.

Make him an honorary citizen, then. Or he can change his last name to "Niedérteneau" for a month. He's not eligible to play in the LNAH - you have to be either born in Quebec or have played junior in Quebec to be eligible.
2011/12.... one of 6 leagues or teams that season, backed up Kevin Poulin vs. the then Albany DevilsReading is definitely listed in his hockeydb bio so that's a given,
I do seem to recall him being brought into Bridgeport as a backup when he was in Danbury.
