Hopefully, the Bulldogs keep going in the OHL playoffs and he won't be available until after the season but otherwise, if they are done early, I'd let him get a little taste prior to the end of the year.

He will still be eligible to be in the Ohl next year. His contract will slide.

He isn't ready for the size of the NHL yet. He still has some time, no need to rush him. Like has already been said, really look forward to seeing him next year at training camp. Would be awesome to see him show up 10 pounds heavier.

I'm not sure the exact reasoning for the specific timing, but with CHL players they have two years to sign from the Draft and it's not uncommon to sign them beforehand, bring them into a training camp and then assign them back to the Junior team and slide their ELC until their age 20 season. I don't know if there are more nuanced CBA considerations to wait to sign.

Also because he’s been excellent this year. You reward the guys you want around in the long term.

I had him as a late 1st rounder. When he Hawks passed on him with their 2nd second round pick I was disappointed, so much so I stopped watching the draft. Didn’t find out we got him until the following day
