Such a murky story still.. you'd have to be extremely drunk to warrant a trip to the emergency room. Speculation on my part, but it almost sounds like the woman might be a prostitute or something based on the way they described her and the situation. Not a good look regardless of what the circumstances were.

Why put up something from the crapfest Denver Post? Most of us can't read that crap due to paywalls.

Any real revelations in there?

I like how you're being a total dick about it and bashing the Denver Post and OP for sharing and yet you are still asking for people to clue you in on article from said publication
I guess I should have said why don't you posts insights from it. Its a disgraceful organization that fired good people in the name of private equity profit. Its about as strong a journalistic organization as the New York Post. There, is that better?

A prostitute would prompt an investigation by the authorities, as it's illegal, and the follow up tweet says that "There is no criminal investigation stemming from the incident."

Fair point but it's possible that they just don't have evidence that any "transaction" took place. It's a random woman they found in the room at 3 in the morning. Combine that with her nationality and the fact that Eastern European countries unfortunately have major sex/human trafficking issues and she's mentioning some "bad people" took her passport, it sounds certainly sounds suspicious.

Not really… many jurisdictions now offer more compassionate care for victims of sex trafficking as this woman clearly is. They investigate this ‘bad’ person if anybody talks… but odds aren’t they won’t (sadly). Then proving prostitution without a sting is pretty difficult too.

Sex traffickers will take the victim's passport when they get to the new country. Definitely sounds like she was working and not by choice.

Mentioned it like an idiot in the wrong (injury) thread, but for all we know, Val could have been trying to help out a countryman who was in a terrible spot.

I'm not sure how that would explain the absence, but it could explain what she was doing in his room. I think the situation she was/is in, probably has something to do with the amount of alcohol she consumed.

As the team appears to be supporting him, until more is known, I just don't see the point in thinking the worst. It just sucks. But this season has been like that from the start of training camp when Landy failed his physical.

Yeaaah, trying to help your countryman. Don't believe that for a second. Of course you can hope you live in a world of rainbows and unicorns but it's a stretch. :P

I just meant the case doesn't look anything like that. Some serious stuff. That sounds too nice.
Yeah, but the point of my post was that the team appears to be supporting him. And until there is more known, I don't see the point in jumping to worse case scenarios. That's nothing close to rainbows and unicorns.

Escorts are around professional athletes all the time. It's not talked about, but it's probably at least as prevalent as things like cocaine. I wouldn't be surprised if he hired a Russian girl for companionship while he was out of town, he certainly has the money to burn for an expensive escort.

The real question we don't know is what did she do to herself while she was with him, whether it was drugs or booze, and why whatever it is that happened means he can't play. Like I said, it's not uncommon for sex workers to be around sports stars while they're on the road, that probably isn't the big scandal here. There's still a lot we don't know here.
