Amazing in the role of Uhura and groundbreaking in so many ways as a female lead in a position of authority and kissing a while lead in prime time was such a big deal at the time. RIP

RIP legend. Also, it's amazing that in a couple of episodes of Strange New World, the character of Uhura got more development than in all the movies and tv shows before it. Showed that they could've done so much more with the character.

There's been a lot of talk about this in the last few weeks since SNW came out. It's important to note that tv was not written the same way back in the 60s. 10000% they could have done more with her.

She had a lot of great TOS episodes whether Mirror, Mirror, The Tholian Web, or the one they meet Nomad. She did get to finally captain the ship in an episode of The Animated Series which was cool.

The movies were definitely centered around Kirk-Spock-McCoy, but in most of the films she always had one shining moment (The Mr. Adventure scene in III might be the funniest scene of the original six films).

She was a great actress. Check her out in Truck Turner a Blacksploitation film from the mid-70s.

She had a nice role on Heroes too but they girl who played her grandaughter jumped to another series so that stroyline was written out.
