Great deal. Wish Erie would have done this in 2019 with Brandt Clarke. Short term it stings but long term I don’t know how this isn’t the better option for them.

It seems like a broken advantage that not enough teams use. The Gens drafted someone who wanted to play for them and still were able to trade him to get picks+a free first the next yaer. Not sure why more teams don't do it. Very good trade for Niagara, although Dickinson is a stud
So now looking back a few weeks regarding the dealings of this team and GM, it would appear some ppl were ahead of the game and it seems like Niagara has done well.

It didn't have to be one or the other though. They could've not wasted all the picks they did the last month AND got this haul for Dickinson and then been in a better spot than a team has been in the last decade going into the next 2/3 drafts and seasons. Time will tell if all their moves the lsat month makes them a contender this year. If not it seems even more like a waste now that they'll have 2 firsts next year. Could've really had an unbelievable draft next year

I think they needed to have moderate success this season in their bid attempt at the mem cup. Without those additions I doubt they would be awarded it.
Those trades make Niagara better now and next year. They will have OAs for a run at a title and OAs to trade for picks prior to next season
With two 1st round picks next year, it will be less painful when they trade one of them at the deadline next season to load up before the memorial cup.

Sure but is being good both years good enough? Maybe it is. To me I’d always rather be elite in one of the years and contend for a championship than just be “good” both years. Either you’re good enough to win a championship, or you’re rebuilding. But maybe the new Niagara owners don’t think like that? Time will tell with whatever other moves they make this year. Still got quite a bit of work to do if they think they can contend for a champIonship this year instead of just being good
Idk what Icedogs ownership is thinking.
But it seemed previous ownership was building towards 2023-24 with 2(1st & 2nd), 3rd, import, and others born 2004. That is an OHL host year for the memorial cup; and, Niagara is now much better positioned to look good when it’s time to make a bid after the trades for 5-2003 born forwards since the new year. That team will have good OAs to keep and to trade for more picks this time next year imo.

Did you guys just have a goalie go down? Seems odd he wasn't just part of the initial trade seeing as the picks are just getting sent back from the Dickinson haul
