NHL19 ps4 update rosters not staying

So I click the updated rosters. I go into Franchise mode edit lines and the new players are there. But when I go to start a season mode, the players are gone. What am I doing wrong? This is literally my first EA NHL game since 96. I'm not a moron. But I'm missing something. Help?
