NHL will pull the plug next month: IIHF head
October 22 @ 9:05 AM
It's more gloom and doom predictions for the NHL as IIHF president Rene Fasel told a Swiss newspaper yesterday that he thinks commissioner Gary Bettman will shut the season down far before the drop-dead date of early January.
"It seems very likely that Gary Bettman will decree a lockout for the entire season in the second half of November," Fasel told Le Matin. "The question is not whether the North American hockey lover will see games this season, it's whether he will see games in October, 2005."

Not only is Gary and the NHLPA destroying the NHL but what I just learned is that the CHL is taking a serious hit financially as well. NHL teams who draft a player from the CHL have to pay that team whatever price it is they agree on. The CHL relies on this payment to pay for staffing, arena maintenance, the whole 9. Despite the 25% increase in ticket sales this season in the CHL, these teams are still taking a big blow.

It's really sad what money can do to some people. :shakehead

It's the transfer agreement that just expired this summer...

And considering the NHL won't be taking any players away this year through the draft (if there is no season), why should they pay the CHL?

Thats exactly my point, without a season there is no draft which means lost revenue for the CHL. It's a destructive domino affect that's affecting the future kids of our game.
