Vaccine wont be available for another 12-18 months. So cancel 2019-20 and 2020-21 and restart for the 2021-22 season.

Yes, I'm not sure it's worth it for the NHL to start the season with no crowds. And I just can't see there be any way that they allow 15-20k people in one place in October. We may be able to ease off social distancing but the virus will still be present and need to be managed.

In Nevada, the anticipation is that the virus will "burn itself out" once the temperature rises (we're hitting 80 in Las Vegas for the first time in the calendar this week; could hit 100 in April). However, in the fall (November/December) it's expected to have a bit of a resurge.

With a few companies doing emergency work and testing, there's the possibility that there will be a vaccine to help with this resurgence, rather than the nominal year/and a half which is often the cycle.

Some other NHL locations not allowing groups to meet until June.

Also can't restart things until international borders reopen to allow players to return from Europe.

More positive cases.

On the positive side, they aren't indicating that infected folks are requiring medical treatment.

Sharks have stated that no players have had symptoms, but also that none have been tested (dated 3/21).

How many fans will actually have money to spend if everything is shutdown for an extended period of time?

Been wondering what that would do to the cap, if we see a 50 percent GDP contraction as some fed officials have been saying

Apparently the NHLPA executive committee should make a decision perhaps as early as Wednesday on the 4/15 paycheck. (Just deduct 14% escrow; increase escrow; forego paycheck.)

Home of Sharks, NFL 49ers, MLS Earthquakes; minor league baseball SJ Giants; Stanford University, SJSU, Santa Clara University, etc.

Unclear from article if that's when fans are in stands then, or no games at all.

Goldobin leaves Canucks, signs in KHL - ProHockeyTalk | NBC Sports

Once the decision is made if/when the season resumes....

In addition to revising all the critical dates, something like this contract may have to be addressed if the KHL starts their season "on time" (nominally August), but the NHL/AHL is still playing catch-up of 19-20 season at that time.

(His "current" roster status is that he's assigned to AHL Utica.)

California, Oregon & Washington Announce Western States Pact | California Governor
Coronavirus California: Gov. Newsom to announce state's plan to ease stay-at-home orders, reopen economy

Governors of California, Oregon and Washington announce their plan to coordinate their way out of the coronavirus limitations

Coronavirus Update: Governors Announce 6-State Working Group To Plan Post-COVID-19 Reopening

Governors from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Rhode Island announced Monday a new coalition that will work out the timing for reopening the region from the coronavirus-driven shutdown of schools and businesses.

The western group seems to be out of a desire to coordinate between the states, but moreso with the eastern coalition with many crossing state boundaries to work from where they live.

The eastern coalition accounts for about half of the detected cases in the US.

Will be interesting to see if additional states jump on those regional coalitions, or start others.

Bad news for concert venues, sports stadiums, Newsom says: "The prospect of mass gatherings is negligible at best until we get to herd immunity and we get to a vaccine. Large scale events that bring in hundreds, thousand, tens of thousands of strangers..is not in the cards."

So it doesn't look like the 3 teams in California will be playing until sometime in 2021. At this point we have to be wondering if there will be a 2020/2021 NHL season.

It's probably more economically feasible for franchises to shut down than play in front of empty stadiums. Unless the players agree to play for very low pay, can't see how they make money.

Mid May might be the earliest we get a decision on 19-20 season.

European players will need 2 week quarantine on their return.

Florida Surgeon General does not see large gatherings until vaccine or cure which could be more than a year. The financial impact of no fans at games would be huge.
