Why is the nhl so bad at staggering games?

For example this Saturday they have 3 east coast games, so naturally 2 games start at 3PM EST and the last one at 8PM est.

Would it kill the NHL to do something like: 3PM, 5:30PM and 8PM starts instead of this crap?

Ideally they wouldn't want three eastern conference games on the same day in the first round, but arena availability sometimes forces their hand. Saturday night also would have been the slot for game 6 of LA vs. Vegas, but Vegas swept so there's no more game 6. NBCSN is also showing qualifying for an IndyCar qualifying session on Saturday afternoon so I don't imagine moving the start time of one of the 3 p.m. games is logistically feasible on such short notice.

They've announced that both games are NBC/NBCSN for Saturday 3pm. NBCSN was also showing qualifying for an IndyCar qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, but that will be bumped obviously.

For Sunday, my guess is PIT/PHIL at 3pm and then NSH/COL at 6pm, with the other two at 7pm and 10pm. If ANA/SJ isn't needed, then move NSH/COL to 10pm.
