Trusting most hockey writers with any sort of voting on awards that mean anything to anyone is asking for disaster.

I don't agree with this, they know what they are watching. They are paid to watch the game. And the majority take there vote seriously. But the handful of them that only vote with team colored glasses on ruins it.

It's the best solution to this though. Players are a worse option. There are no good ones because people who watch the game do so with different expectations.

I guess so. It's just frustrating watching narratives win over actual facts, but that's just being human I guess.

If there is one thing i hate is voter fatigue. At no point should a player like mcdavid not win an award because people are tired of voting for him as the best player every year. If he is the best then he is the best, no questions.

The draft got moved up a few days to October 6-7, and free agency starts October 9th.

WRT critical dates....

9/25 - beginning of buyout period (Sens have put Ryan on waivers for buyout).

Have not heard when RFA QOs are due. My guess is 10/8 (day after draft, day before free agency starts).

Have not heard when arbitration (team, player options) selection is, nor anything about hearing dates.
