Odds for Montreal (and all other teams) selecting 1OA:

1 - 18.5%
2 - 13.5%
3 - 11.5%
4 - 9.5%
5 - 8.5%
6 - 7.5%
7 - 6.5%
8 - 6.0%
9 - 5.0%
10 - 3.5%
11 - 3.0%
12 - 2.5%
13 - 2.0%
14 - 1.5%
15 - 1.0% <- Montreal

Odds for 2OA or 3OA will depend on who gets 1OA and 2OA respectively.

NHL Draft Lottery scheduled for April 9

Worst case is 15 OA - Looking at stats of top 20 pointers selected at 15OA + playing between 1990 and now, a few gems could be found.

Just imagine we get a top 3....ugh that would be so amazing. Would be able to get a great forward. Perhaps open the door to trade Drouin for LD.

Hughes, KK, Domi, Gallagher, Danault, Tatar, Shaw is a nice mix. Add in a little Poehling and Suzuki

It is great year to draft 5-20 with an amazing depth (especially at forward) in the early to mid first round.

I think after the top 2, there is a few players that are really close (Podkolzin, Byram, Dach, Cozen, Boldy, Zegras, Turcotte)... And then again not much separate the other batch 9-20.

If the Habs are lucky, they could still get potential homerun picks like Caufield, Newhook or Harley (even a guy like Kaliev if Timmins wants to gamble) that could very well end up in the top 5 of best players drafted this year... Very interesting draft. There will be for sure very good prospects left at #15.

They are all ranked after 15 in consolidated rankings. They most likely will all be there. If not Dach-Boldy will have dropped, even better.
top 10 has only 1d. Will be d heavy 11-20. Probably 6/10. Not sure if teams 10-14 need dmen.

1-10 great. 11-20 not so much. My 2 cents.

Cam York, Ryan Suzuki or Moritz Seider is my guess...

Nothing special at 15 to be honest.

I would try to trade the pick with a Alzner or something to free up more Cap and go big with UFAs. Problem is, Bergevin is sticking to his guns of drafting and not spending big on ufas

We still have a good shot to jump up.

2017 NHL draft:

1. NJ (5th best odds)
2. PHI (13th best odds)
3. DAL (9th best odds)

2018 NHL Draft:
1. BUF (best odds)
2. CAR (11th best odds)
3. MTL (4th best odds)

There are teams who jump up every year

If we stay at 15, I think we take McMicahel. I think he can be a better Robert Thomas, and we tried to trade up for Thomas in 2017. He seems like the kind of player we like.

May as well rip the bandage off quickly rather than thinking and hoping we can win the lottery until the end of the month just to have our hopes dashed. Get it over with quick.

NHL still owes us for the John Scott trade tho so like... ya :sarcasm:

Not my top guy at 15, admittedly, but you won't hear me kvetching if we do take him. He has a je ne sais quoi about his game. He's not always the most noticeable player, but if you really focus on him, there's a lot to like about his game. He could have a huge season next year in the O.
