A couple of notes:
-- If anyone would like to trade positions with another team, please decide that amongst yourselves and announce it to me prior to your first selection. Once your first selection has been made and your teams draft position solidified.
--Teams will be able to trade 2 of their draft picks for another team's next 2 picks, if the GMs choose. (Naturally, no one is going to trade down and not get anything for it. But given this draft is "snake order", if someone wants to trade down two picks (i.e. a 2nd & 3rd rounder) that are further apart to get 2 picks that are closer together, then that is fine. That is why I say trades for picks need to be "two at a time".)
--Trades for players, however, can be one for one -- but as you say, all teams must end up with the same number of players at each position. Trading players may occur at any point during or after the draft.
-- Let's go with 20 rounds -- 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, 2 goalies. (If we want to add rounds at the end, we can do that later)
-- We will establish the prospect draft order at the conclusion of Phase 1 of the draft (and no, I will not be assigning myself 1st pick again)
--One other rule: once we start the draft, whenever someone makes a pick, please PM the next person on the list and let them know they are up next to keep things moving quickly. Draft selections should be posted in the tread, and I will update the first post listing each of the teams and their selections. I will start a new thread once we begin the draft.
