I'm pretty sure NHL.com did one of these for every single playoff team.

Chicago: https://www.nhl.com/news/why-chicago-blackhawks-will-win-stanley-cup/c-288601296
Edmonton: https://www.nhl.com/news/why-edmonton-oilers-will-win-stanley-cup/c-288633774
Nashville: https://www.nhl.com/news/why-nashville-predators-will-win-stanley-cup/c-288601832
San Jose: https://www.nhl.com/news/why-san-jose-sharks-will-win-stanley-cup/c-288601656

I'm sure if someone looks they could find the other 11. These should be titled why they could win. Also it's not just writers making predictions either, the same guy did Calgary's and Edmonton's

Wow. HUUUUUGE stretch here. Surprised that it'd be the Flames as anybody's dark horse.

They're plucky and have some skill...I just think this is a reach.

By definition a Dark Horse (contrary to what Katy Perry believes) is someone you don't expect to win. The Flames are an easier choice than anyone in the East, as the people who'd you have as dark horses (Toronto) is going to get demolished by the Caps. Flames beat the Ducks 8-3 this year and have held their own against the Ducks even in the losses.

Flames ain't winning the cup with Engelland and Bartkowski on the backend though and a third line consisting of Brouwer, Stajan and Versteeg.

Engelland is far from an issue and Versteeg hasn't played with Brouwer and Stajan in a little while now.

It won't be easy but if the Flames can outscore their opponents in four games of each series, they will win the cup this year. :shakehead

Which is basically true of any team this year.

Sorry but going 4 and 6 in their last 10 games doesn't leave me feeling that Gulutzan is pushing the right buttons presently.

Brouwer was suspiciously praised haha. If he does turn into a playoff warrior though our bottom 6 could be very dangerous.

Capitals and a healthy Pittsburgh are the only teams that stand out to me. Any team in the West can beat any other team imo.

Someone knocking Chicago out would make the road a lot easier though.

Wouldnt be suprised. West is not exactly a powerhouse anymore and in the East some contenders could eliminate each other early on

Edit: NVM I see they did it for every team. Regardless Calgary could win it all. Good team in a sea of good but not great teams. Its anyones cup this year

I'm a Flames fan, but let's be real. This is one of those things you post because it's so crazy it will drive more traffic to your site. If you say the Hawks or Caps are going to win the Cup, no one clicks.

Flames aren't winning the cup with that garbage third pairing. They could absolutely beat the Ducks though, especially with Fowler out.

Canadian team in the playoffs - Need to pick a Canadian team.
Then make a controversial pick.

Everyone will talk about this article and NHL.com marketing wins.

Engellend is solid. And Bartkowski has been good for about two thirds of the games. He's made a few mistakes clearing the puck when he's stuck in his end.

Lol. They get pinned in their own zone on a regular basis and usually end up firing the puck up the middle and costing the team a goal. I'm a Flames fan that watches every game. They definately need to upgrade in the off season. Would rather see Kulak than Bart tbh.

Brian Elliot is good.

But yeah honestly there is so much parity and all 8 teams in the west are pretty strong.

26-18-3 - .553 win%
2.55 GAA
.910 sv%

Ehhhhhh. Hes done OK this year. Very up and down. Started out ice cold and ended ice cold. Had a good streak in the middle though.

As others have said they do this for every team. Still think they could prove to be a tough out but I can't see Calgary winning the Cup this year.
