This one's even worse imo.

1. Steven Stamkos, C, Tampa Bay Lightning (1)
2. Drew Doughty, D, Los Angeles Kings (2)
3. Erik Karlsson, D, Ottawa Senators (15)
4. Roman Josi, D, Nashville Predators (38)
5. Braden Holtby, G, Washington Capitals (93)
6. John Carlson, D, Washington Capitals (27)
7. Alex Pietrangelo, D, St. Louis Blues (4)
8. Josh Bailey, RW, New York Islanders (9)
9. Jordan Eberle, C, Edmonton Oilers (22)
10. Cam Atkinson, RW, Columbus Blue Jackets (157)
11. Adam Henrique, C, New Jersey Devils (82)
12. Jake Allen, G, St. Louis Blues (34)
13. Derek Stepan, C, New York Rangers (51)
14. Jared Spurgeon, D, New York Islanders (156)
15. Justin Schultz, D, Anaheim Ducks (43)
16. Tyler Myers, D, Buffalo Sabres (12)
17. Jake Gardiner, D, Anaheim Ducks (17)
18. Gustav Nyquist, RW, Detroit Red Wings (121)
19. Mikkel Boedker, LW, Arizona Coyotes (8)
20. Travis Hamonic, D, New York Islanders (53)
21. TJ Brodie, D, Calgary Flames (114)
22. Michael Del Zotto, D, New York Rangers (20)
23. Marco Scandella, D, Minnesota Wild (55)
24. Luca Sbisa, D, Philadelphia Flyers (19)
25. Zach Bogosian, D, Atlanta Thrashers (3)
26. Colin Wilson, C, Nashville Predators (7)
27. Matt Martin, LW, New York Islanders (148)
28. Tyler Ennis, LW, Buffalo Sabres (26)
29. Zack Smith, LW, Ottawa Senators (79)
30. Jason Demers, D, San Jose Sharks (186)

Top 3 is backwards. Pietrangelo after Carlson? 4 Inconsistent second line wingers and a poor goalie before 1bC Stepan? Scandella's position is a crime. Lot's of bad decisions, too many to go through. At least they didn't leave anybody deserving out of the first round.

But on a more positive note, what a draft right? 3 franchise players. 5 Norris threats and ridiculous D depth. In a proper redraft, it'd be only top top 6ers and top4ers through the top like 20.

Do they look at their whole careers or just how good they are today? Stamkos still at #1 would suggest it's career-wise but then again, Bailey is at 8.

I think Karlsson and Doughty are both ahead of Stamkos.
They are - which just goes to show how f***ing ridiculous this draft is in top-end talent. Two Norris winners, a guy who was at one point a top 3 player in the league and PPG for his career (not to mention second-best goalscorer of his generation), and numerous other #1 Ds who are Norris caliber if not winners...

Best post-lockout draft for top talent?

2015 Draft is shaping up to be the best Draft since 2003

Way too early to say that - and I meant exclusively for top end talent rather than depth.

McDavid
Eichel
Marner
Hanifin
Provorov
Werenski
Rantanen
Connor
Barzal
Boeser
Konecny
Aho

Are all star-calibre players already and there are more on the way.

2015 vs 2008 is close at the top of the Draft but the depth isnt even close

How is Matt Martin, a useless player, ahead of a career top 4 Dman in Demers?

And a good top 9 player in Zack Smith?

Also, lol Jake Allen going 12th.

And going based on just playing hockey, Slava Voynov is better than like 6 of those Dmen on the list.

2009 is a much deeper Draft. And had the top end talent with Tavares and Hedman.

1 generational talent in McDavid
2 franchise c's in Eichel & Barzal
2 franchise dmen in Provorov & Werenski
3 franchise wingers in Marner, Rantanen & Boeser
Potential All-Star caliber players in Connor, DeBrusk, Konecny, Hanifin, Meier

absolutely filthy draft already and it has only had 3-years to reveal itself. There's no telling what other players may emerge from later rounds.

So Holtby and Carlson get to bump Pietrangelo because of the magical Stanley cup bump, but why is Josi there

Stopped reading after karlsson wasn’t one. Some of the people that make these lists really have it out for him.

Nah... mcdavid Rantanen And Barzal alrady have PPG seasons under their belt. Provorov and werenski have 40+ point seasons as 20 YO dmen. Marner aho Eichel(close to ppg) have already had 60+ and you can easily throw in boeser who would’ve easily hit that barring injury. Connor just had a 30 goal rookie year. And konency and beauvillier have already potted 20.

2015 is looking to be all time

Just from an Islanders POV

Bailey should be lower. He might be #9 based on the past couple seasons but his career up to that point has been unspectacular. Stepan based on his career should be higher. Spurgeon although drafted by the Islanders signed as a UFA with the Wild so I wouldn't include him on the list

Hey don't forget that Aho is also a franchise winger

Stepan below Henrique and Jake Allen...? I’d love to hear an argument for Henrique over him though considering Stepan has a higher peak, was/is better defensively, and is better right now. Even Josh Bailey..? Spurgeon lower than these guys as well? Brodie below Boedker? Stamkos over EK and Doughty? Tf is this list
Using the names above only (because I’m too lazy to remember/look up who else was in this draft) so much recency bias in their list

EK
Doughty
Stamkos
Josi
Pietro
Carlson
Holtby
Spurgeon
Brodie
Stepan
Gardiner
Myers
Eberle
Voynov
Hamonic
Atkinson
Bailey
Henrique
Scandella
Demers
Schultz
Nyquist
The rest pretty much.

Voynov is slotted where i think he’d be if not for the incident and was still in the NHL. Bailey is way too high, had two good years that’s all. Carlson over Pietro was laughable as well. Spurgeon and Brodie way too low. Demers is way too low as well, shouldn’t be below Martin. Demers was a solid top 4 guy for a while

Two Caps in the top 6, Ross Mahoney is a god...don't believe the McPhee hype. Ross Mahoney made the picks and McPhee announced them.
