He got the allowed maximum salaries for 2022 drafted ELC player (and max 10 % signing bonus) as per the 2020 MOU to extend the CBA. Kind of curious choice to make the max salaries dependent on the player's draft year, because the teams will be signing the better crop of their earlier years' draftees to the $925k per year contracts for some time yet.

one of those rare cases where an undrafted, still draft-eligible player joins a Dev Camp, Rookie camp, or NHL camp on an ATO and actually gets signed to ELC

his brother had been Panthers pick/player til included in the Tkachuk/Huberdeau trade
Similar story as Xhekaj last year, hope he makes it one day

on another note, Mailloux was signed

From a couple days ago. As a CBA geek, fun quirk in that Burke hasn't turned 20 yet but wouldn't be 2023 draft eligible as a 2002 birthday. Whereas somebody born January 2003 would be draft eligible one final time.

Thanks! I saw the dates and wondered how they could sign the player now.

Yeah quirky thing with the NHL CBA (September 15) and the CHL (January 1) having different draft cut off dates. North American (trained) players born between September 16 and December 31 will only be NHL draft eligible twice.

this is a CBA corner case i am not fully understanding

i was surprised to read Bruins, at this date, still had exclusive rights
and even more surprised about the "right to match"

Toporowski is 21, went undrafted,
played WHL as over-ager last season,
attended Bruins Camp this fall
and is on an AHL deal now with their affiliate

my understanding was that, re undrafted players with NHL ATO/PTO in off-season/camp(s)
that the NHL team's window to sign try-out player would expire when the player's season began
is that only re Junior players?

maybe different guidelines re players who sign as pro?
or just who sign in AHL?

thanks in advance

Looks like Detroit has signed Amadeus Lombardi to his ELC yesterday. Interesting prospect as he was still playing Midget AAA in the GTHL 2 years ago. A little bit of a late bloomer, who just keeps getting better.

4th Round pick in 2022 draft. Had a really good camp with the Wings and has just continued with Flint (OHL) this season. 44 points in 31 games. 21 goals, 23 assists. Another nice young prospect for Detroit.
