Will be great to see who we sign as a back-up just so I can see everyone turn on him after he has one bad game

If he makes less than a million, bad games are ok. We will get a cheaper guy than last year and will also get better numbers, we can't lose.

Please provide evidence for this, since it doesn't happen.

Boucher got tons of leeway. Bob got tons of leeway. Hell, Emery got tons of leeway since it's not his fault his body is slow, the effort and compete level were all there.

This is just a fantasy in your head. Only Leighton got heat, and he earned every bit of it by being a non-NHL player and for sucking in far more than 1 game.

Montoya would be a solid backup. he'd be my choice. Greiss would be good too.

Dubnyk sort of got lost in the shuffle, and they obviously wanted to give Tokarski a shot at first calling. Not even sure they they bothered with him, but he had two good years with the Oilers, and if there's one thing the Oilers do, it's shed guys other teams tend to find useful.

thats right if i was a gm my blueprint for success would be...find out exactly what the oilers are doing and do the ****ing opposite.

if i got to choose id be very happy with dubnyk or greiss.

As it looks right now we probably gonna wait it out and take whoever is left and willing to play for less than 800K. We simply don't have the cap space to go after a premium backup like Greiss or Montoya... they deserve a raise and they know it

Which is fine. If Holmgren was still calling the shots, he'd have Emery locked up for another 2 years because he'd be too scared he wouldn't find a backup during free agent musical chairs, despite their not being enough chairs

Do you have to have a "full" roster, or can you carry less? If we need to clear cap space couldn't we just wait until day one of the season to make our callups and such? Would that even make a difference? Just trying to figure this out...

Think the Stars are going to sign Chirstopher Nilstrop again?

If not, I'd like to see him play for us as a back up, along with most names mentioned already.

Giggy? Would he come over here and commit to playing a Backup role for a cheap 1 - 1.3 mil?

I'd love it to be Reimer but I doubt that it will happen. Cap hit will be too high I think. He needs to get out of that stupid city. Perfect team guy that got his team to the playoffs, played injured and then got shanked by his team and thrown under the bus by his coach even though it was his crappy coaching that was the problem. Its not the goalies fault your team can't play defense.

Nilstorp will play for Växsjö in the SHL next season.

Greiss would be my first option for a backup.

Greiss, Montoya, and Johnson are off the board... what are our options? Emery? Who else?

I don't know why Hextall wouldn't beat the paltry $1m the Pens gave Greiss.
