crowdsourced content is the future of online subscription based journalism, and we are on the forefront

What traditional media fail to recognize is that people would sooner pay to watch an unsuccessful plane landing than a successful plane landing.

I feel like we’re more in touch with what the market desires.

Forum 26 Interview Article Algorithm v1.0

RALEIGH - It’s a great season. Darling lifts a Bojangles. He is in a better shape. Skinner is not here, nor should he be. We ask some questions.

How do you metric for Dalpe’s zone starts?

Darling - “What?”

You’re being pedantic.

Darling - “I... is this the interview?”

Let’s move on. Tell us about Peters.

Darling - “Well, it’s the nature of the beast. Sometimes it’s best to just move forward. Rod’s an experienced coach and”

Justin Peters.

Darling - “Who?”

Your replacement.

Darling - “I...”

Michael Leighton.

Darling -

Eat crow, sunshine.

Hurricanes coverage on the Athletic. It does not playoff.

When there's a Pulitzer for bot-generated journalism, this will win it.

Calling my shot now. Canes goaltending won't be in the bottom 10 in the NHL this year.

Without Luke I’m not sure they are going to get the access they probably want. Who else has it? Chicken and Egg problem. They will have to find a person who can generate the surface content and then build the connections to deliver insight.

Access can be easily granted (and likely would be) but the Hurricanes front office, unless.....

I once got told off by Mike Sundheim for conducting an unsanctioned interview with Erik Karlsson (ours, not the good one). Just saying.

.....you asked a tough question or two of a long-shot prospect....

If a board member writes for the Athletic, and posts a link to his article here, get ready for the Last Word Army treatment. :naughty:

Only if you forked over the green to get past the paywall....

“Which specific teammate do you intend to replace?”

One of the Zacs...or is it one of the Zachs....I can't remember. All I know is I want a career like Chris Terry's.

“What’s your least favorite thing about Tom Dundon?”

Why isn't there a Top Golf already build within walking distance of the PNC?

“Finish the sentence: If the owners don’t concede to our demands, the Players Association will have no choice but to go on str...

....strip tease club tour....across the entire state. Given the team construction these days, we thought we'd call it, "Skanks are all in for the tank."

Nah, the problem with LWA was that he'd post the articles and then leave. No follow up, no conversation. Just an expectation that we'd click on it.

I don't mind others posting their work on here. I used to do it myself back when I wrote for a paper. But you can't just dump the article on a board and expect it to get hits. You've got to engage the audience and continue the conversation in the thread you created.

I just couldn't write about the Canes anymore. Every article wound up sounding the same, because the team had the same problems, year after year. Back then, it was addressing our defense and getting Ward a decent backup. Nowadays, it's finding any goaltending and scrambling to put the puck in the net.

In fairness, we did find some defensemen and a backup goalie.

LWA posts articles like a guy walking into a college Calculus class with his 3rd grade math textbook trying to walk everyone through how multiplying something by 10 just moves the decimal over one place. First, everybody here already knows that. Second, why are you even here to begin with?

So if someone was going to give you a 1000 dollars if you correctly predict the Canes being in or out of the bottom 10 in goaltending, you'd pick not in the bottom 10?

I agree with the sentiment, that there's a possibility for something good to happen in net with 2 guys who have recent histories of really high level play. But if I had anything riding on it, I'd say bottom 10.

I figured that's why we weren't on the launch of the Carolina site. He was probably their number 1 target, and how many other high end candidates are there that already have knowledge of the team and any kind of following? It might take them time to find the right fit if Luke is out of the picture.

It'd be interesting to see what Matt Karash could do with access. He's predicted a lot of things just on intuition alone. Every year he seems to predict at least one major Canes move.

But I don’t have anything riding on it, so it is easier to be unreasonable.

Plus, it would be more like I’d win $10 if I predicted the team to be in the bottom 10, and $1000 if I predicted outside the bottom 10.

I don't think it's unreasonable, I was just curious if you thought it was going to happen, or you were taking a whirl at something you think is unlikely that might happen.
