Glad the NHL was so quick to fine the Rangers but the explanation behind the 5,000 dollar fine for Wilson seems to be taking a "long" time...

It’s the players union 5k is max. If you want higher fines the players will have to vote for them.

Every time the draft comes around we see what a soulless tool Bettman is. He’s just begging the audience for any reaction even negative ones. There is something really f***ed up about this motherf***er in just how touchy he is to any critique but watch him turn up his nose and refuse to talk to journalists about the concussion lawsuits like he’s the f***ing King of England. I guess Parros is now some kind of Duke or personal footman the royal toenail clipper as it were.

NYR predictably lose out in this until others won't join in.
When and if they do, it'll be late for parros (and poss Gary)

Bettman didn't like the fact that the Rangers called out Parros by name, because people who don't follow the NHL too closely now have a name to google in George Parros and when they do they find out the league is actually stupid enough to put a former enforcer in charge of player safety which is like making a pyromaniac the fire chief. Also, the Rangers' statement makes Bettman look bad because he has final approval on the punishments Parros hands out.

Regarding another Wilson incident, the one involving Brandon Carlo:

Report: George Parros Didn't Want To Suspend Tom Wilson For Brandon Carlo Hit

“Parros, we’ve heard, didn’t even want to suspend Wilson for the brain-damaging assault on Boston’s Brandon Carlo, who suffered mood changes and blurry vision from his concussion after being hospitalized by Wilson in March,The Athletic’s Rick Carpiniello reported.

According to Carpiniello, it was NHL commissioner Gary Bettman who overruled Parros on the decision to suspend Wilson.

“Bettman didn’t like the optics and ordered a suspension. So Wilson got seven games,”
Carpiniello wrote. “Before that, he wasn’t even considered a repeat offender, because the CBA erases priors after a certain period of time transpires.”

Wilson got away with a measly $5000 fine because Parros AND BETTMAN wanted him to get away with a $5000 fine. I suppose the "optics" of what he did to Buch and Panarin weren't bad enough for Bettman this time and no one ended up in the hospital. The league has a pathetic standard for player safety if "well, he didn't end up in the hospital" is your standard.

Copied and pasted my comment in other threads:

So one of your repeat offending player almost kills another player and don't even acknowledge it but now this. The league is really doing a great job at embarrassing themselves.

Just going to the main boards practically everyone except one fan base sees this incident as a huge self inflicted black eye for the NHL.
Yeah, that tells you all you need to know about the league's failure to read the room and hand out a fair punishment and now fining the Rangers for pointing that out on Twitter for everyone to see.

It's not like it's Caps fans vs. Rangers fans. You've got people who hate the Rangers--Islanders fans, Devils fans, Penguins fans--all saying the same thing, that Wilson got off easy and the NHL screwed up.

The NHL didn't just say f*** you to the Rangers, they said it to every other team's players that there's a good chance that when Tom Wilson comes after you (and he will because he'll never change), we won't have your back, we'll have his.

Mafia tactics, punish the victim for protesting. Stay classy, NHL.

I've been calling the NHL the hockey mafia league for many years now.. would not be surprised if Campbell is in the mafia and bettman is connected to them or was their lawyer.
