"Anaheim Mighty Ducks player rep Steve Rucchin recently denied the Players' Association was preparing another offer to the NHL, saying the players made all the concession they were willing to make in their last offer. NHLPA VP Ted Saskin and NHL VP Bill Daly also subsequently denied their respective sides were working on new offers.
That may be the case, but as more than one Canadian paper has recently noted, the Association denied throughout November they were preparing a new offer and then stunned the hockey world with their proposal of a 24-percent salary roll-back. The league also probably wouldn't admit to working on a new offer until they were ready to present it.
So despite the denials from both camps, rumors are still flying that both sides are re-tooling their previous offers in hopes of pitching them prior to the Board of Governors meeting on Jan. 14. "
Mmmmm tasty rumor vittles. Enjoy.
