Where's Stollery. Until he ***** the bed, I don't want Quincey or Moore or even Lovejoy anywhere near this team

The way they are playing Santini right now he'd be the one out of the lineup.

Santini gives us the 3LD and 3RD option.

Moore will do exactly what Stollery is doing in a puck-moving and PPQB role so Stollery would go down for him. Greene is a bit different. But with the way Merrill looked on the PP tonight, I could see them using Greene to ease Merrill's PK minutes, put Severson back on the PP, and keep Santini in the line-up.

Still seems like a long way before Greene/Moore are back.

Greene-Severson
Merrill-Santini
Quincey-Auvitu

That SHOULD be the defensive core when Moore comes back. Now I understand it won't be because Hynes loves Lovejoy, but if we really wanted to put out the best D-Core possible, that's what it would be.

Stollery's been good but he'll be done when Green comes back. I'd hate to see Santini come out if Moore comes back and they push Quincey back to the right side. Been real happy with him and Merrill lately, not a big fan of Quincey other than he sticks up for his team mates, someones gonna be the odd man out unfortunately.

If Santini and Merrill are still playing this well when both Greene and Moore come back, I honestly think they should look into trading Quincey.

Greene - Severson
Merrill - Lovejoy
Moore - Santini
Auvitu/Helgeson

I think ideally, Hynes should gradually play Santini into the 2RD role at even strength and use Lovejoy in a Volchenkov PK/defensive specialist role.

Definitely have options though which is finally nice to have.

I've watched this staff play both Quincey and Moore nearly 25 minutes in games at various times ...I don't believe for one second that they are going to keep one of them out of the lineup for a 12 minute defender because he's right handed.

Edit:. I do hope I'm wrong though.

Well 12 minutes isn't accurate though he only played 12:30 tonight cause of all the special teams time. The previous five games he played

We've seen a lineup featuring Lovejoy and Moore this year. And we've seen it struggle massively defensively.

Now we've seen a lineup featuring just one of the two major detriments. And it's been a whole of a lot better defensively.

If Hynes goes back to a D-Core of Moore and Lovejoy and sits Santini/Auvitu, I would be absolutely done with Hynes. He would be purposely trying to tank at that point.

Yeah those minutes are a little more than I thought. The AS break is coming up and we should have everyone back by then, hope they don't do anything silly and send him down.

Then I have no explanation for tonight...maybe keeping his minutes down in a back-to-back?

Santini is also world's better than Auvitu.

They're different players. Auvitu I thought was great at using his skating ability to create rushes for our team. He also is a very good player at holding the zone and getting shots on net. He did struggle a bit in his own zone in terms of physicality for 4 to 5 games before the first send down, but we really haven't been able to see anything else from him since. I don't know, I hold Auvitu in really high praise. I thought he was fantastic in Pre-Season and was fantastic the first 20 games. I really want to see more of him especially when I think he's a lot better than Moore, Lovejoy, Quincey. People rip on him because he isn't the strongest player in his own zone with the puck, but they don't realize that even though he does get knocked off the puck a bit, he's usually never trapped in his zone because he's so good at keeping the puck in the opposition's zone.

Santini is a very poised player. I know people don't like this, but the guy is a defensive defenseman. Yes I know he has points, but I still wouldn't call his game an offensive one. And like I said, just because he's a defensive defenseman doesn't mean he cannot get points. He's got all the makings of a good player, the points will come off of breakout passes and stick to stick passes in the neutral zone. Vlasic is a great stay at home defenseman and he is still able to collect points because he's smarter than most. What Santini does well is that he suppresses shots at an elite rate (small sample size but it's extremely impressive) and does a great job at not allowing opposing forwards easy routes into our zone. He loves playing in the Neutral Zone.

So, I'm very high on both. I really do think both with extended time the rest of the year would prove to be defenseman we can count on for years to come. That's why I'm so against Lovejoy/Moore being out there. I really genuinely believe both Auvitu and Santini are better players at this point and while Lovejoy/Moore really don't have a future here, Auvitu and Santini should (well Santini definitely will, for some reason the fanbase and Hynes isn't as high on Auvitu). There's no reason Auvitu and Santini in a season like this, shouldn't get the rest of the season to continue to get chances and improve.

And I don't think it's any coincidence that are defensive numbers are loads better when these guys play. Since Santini has replaced Moore, we've been winning again and allowing a goal less per game. During the beginning of the year when Auvitu was playing and we were healthy, we went 9-3-3 and the defense wasn't a huge mess. It was that mid-stretch when Santini and Auvitu were in the AHL that we got killed defensively.

You just turned a 7 word statement into a page essay like you're writing your SAT essay.

I don't think you're going to see the staff take out Moore - Lovejoy for Auvitu - Santini at any point this year, just going off how they use Moore/Lovejoy.

Just like Coleman, if the whole D is healthy Santini will go back to the A. It has nothing to do with how he played but he can go down get big minutes and continue to improve. Thats just what its is to be young and waiver eligible.

There is no reason for Santini to go down even when guys get healthy. He has already shown he is capable of playing the NHL and playing it well and better than the veterans on the team. D with him in the lineup is much better than it is without him. This is not the same thing as Coleman coming up and then going backdown after a player came back.

Santini got the call up after injuries just like Coleman. Unless they put someone on IR Coleman will be in the A tomorrow.

I agree with every single thing you said about Santini. But i have a really hard time believing they keep out any one of Merrill Greene Severson Quincey Lovejoy or Moore if they are all healthy for Santini when they can get get him is development time. Hopefully im wrong but i doubt it.

Damn I didn't get to catch the game tonight but holy **** 4-1?? I'm surprised. How was the defending tonight?

OK. There were some shaky moments, but for the most part it was acceptable.

The flyers D, on the other hand... They must be the only team in the league that can make our PP look competent.

I'm glad the goalies are struggling for the flyers now lol. But we didn't give up that many penalties this game?
