1. Salary Cap will be $70.3M
2. 22 Rounds
So,.. 1+22=23 players?

Koivu777, how many count toward the cap? 20? (12F,6D,2G) or all 23?

Or are we only really having 21 rounds + 1 at the start = 22 players (13F, 7D, 2G) which makes the most sense as NHL teams dress 20 and have two in the press box.

We're in need of knowing how much room there is to wiggle under the cap.

Yea I think only the starters (players who dress) should count against the cap

Or raise the cap since the 70.3 number is based on a 30 team league. This is such a small league that the cap shouldn't be the same as the NHL

Don't you think Vanek would have gone before the 18th round if not for his 7+ million cap hit?

The cap ceiling of 70.3 mill allows us to assemble a team that an NHL team could have assembled!!! It's about your GM skills!!!!!

Thgose teams who are not over cap and with complete rosters will be assembled and put to a vote to determine ranking.

Deadbeat GMs who don't complete rosters and irresponsible GMs who don't follow the rules and go over cap will be considered to have 'lost'. After all, why the hell play a game if you aren't gonna follow the rules?

It's not realistic to have a 10 team league, with a cap designed for a 30 team league

Change the rules at this point? Countless picks were made with the cap in mind.

And it is challenging to build a balanced cap team, instead of drafting a Vanek 7+ million salary for a third or fourth line role!!!! Now THAT is more unrealistic.

Let's play by the rules, not change them three-quarters of the way through the game.

The Flyers shed 4.1 million in salary and the Senators get the coveted disturber Steve Ott.

The defensive core in Ottawa is thus:

Erik Karlsson - P.K. Subban
Dan Girardi - Tobias Enstrom
Niklas Kronwall - Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Andrej Meszaros

All count against the cap. Everyone should have 13 Forwards, 7 Defense, and 2 Goalies.

Also why would you want to make the cap a smaller number? This is a fantasy draft so teams are meant to have more superstars per team vs the NHL. Thats why we are using the NHL cap.

Since teams have more superstars per team compared to the actual NHL it would make sense to have a higher cap then the one the NHL uses

Really? The CAP assures that teams won't be drafting 7+ million dollar third liners. Well, except you did in Vanek last round.

Trade if one is not cap compliant. Or add/drop after the draft.

There are quality 7 million dollar undrafted guys who haven't been drafted because they are NOT WORTH IT given their bloated salaries relative to their play.
