How many fellow hfboard members and hockey fans in general are fans of a more tranquil type of music? These three are my favourite genres by far, and I'd love it if I could hear the type of music that fits these genres that all of you like to listen to.

Based on what I've tried so far, I think New Age is just trash. Ambient is one of the genres I seem to gravitate to and love most. With Trance/EDM/IDM, there's alot of crap, but alot of stuff I love as well.

These are my favorites.

1. Selected Ambient Works Vol. II by Aphex Twin
2. Possible Musics by Jon Hassel
3. Ambient 4: On Land by Brian Eno

Enya, Enigma, Libera, Celtic Woman (I kinda consider them New Age), Adiemus, etc. etc. are excellent. But most of the hippie ones (Don't mean to offend anyone) is well yeah not great.

I'll give'em a shot. Thanks.
Do you consider any of Philip Glass' work ambient or is it more like just straight minimalism to you (or mere movie soundtrack doodlings)? No big deal either way, just curious. (At the moment, I'm thinking specifically, though by no means exclusively, of some of the music on Glassworks).

I don't think of it as ambient for some reason, but I think it's somewhere in the middle between regular tangible/melodic music (classical?) and minimalism. Definitely don't think of it as noodling, and if I did think of it as Ambient, I definitely would have listed him.

I think Music With Changing Parts and Music in Twelve Parts are fantastic, but I've never really clicked with Glassworks. Worth another shot?

Incredible project.

Hopefully dungeon synth is ok here, there tends to be some overlap with ambient stuff.

Probably not. These days when I listen to Glass, it is usually the "Low" Symphony.
