He was not the backup option when he signed him? Cap space obviously does not roll over when not used in the NHL. To me it does not hurt if he 'gambles' for a season when there is clear cap space available. If Ned worked out, we would be cheering that we had a number 1 for 3 mil. He ended up not working, and his contract clearly had no negative effect, affect (hell I bachelors I swear), on our cap space for this year.What's going on Mr Yzerman?
My guess is why pay 3mil for backup if you could have one for under 1 . Does he trying save money to sign something big and have big playoffs push , just like Blue Jackets did couple years ago
