The difference in 30-goal scorers from 99-00 to 00-01 caught my eye. Jumped from 18 to 45, but I doubt there was any noticeable increase in overall league scoring. The number of 40-goal men went from 7 to 13 as well. Must have been a good year for top-end scorers for whatever reason.

League scoring was essentially even. But power play opportunities rose by 14%, and power play goals rose 17%. Looks like one of the NHL's crackdowns on obstruction created more opportunities for the top scorers to score on the power play.

Not that one team has that much effect on league scoring, but 00-01 was the one full year that larry Robinson coached the devils so the normally defensive minded team was basically run and gun
