Those are all his rights. If he didnt want to play for BB thats fine and his right to not want to. Just dont put on a show about how much your brain is messed up. It disingenuous and makes light of people who have real issues with their brain and had to walk away from the game.

But he did have serious injury issues during his years with NE...

Of course he did. Gronk was physically and mentally worn out after the 2018 season. Being away a year has changed things dramatically for the better and not having to play under BB is icing on the cake.

A year of rest does wonders for the body, especially when you do the math and realize he had been playing football and getting hit regularly for about 15-20 years before he retired.
He went to the WWE for his off year. Kinda hard to say it was about the physical toll the sport took and then go do professional wrestling. The toll that takes on the body has been well documented.

He showed up what 2 or 3 days in WWE? and these were to do interviews or be the host of wrestlemania, those don't put much physical wear and tear on the body

^^ what he said. Most of what he did was media stuff other than when he won the title, which I don't believe was much of a match for him. I.E. we're not talking Stone Cold vs Bret Hart here.

WWE was a way for him to remain relevant, make good money and do something fun without the physical toll of football.

As a Pats fan I am looking forward to watching TB this year while we retool, and we have the right person running the retool. Nothing but love & respect to Brady & Gronk, zero problem with what Gronk 'did'. Dude's got a house in TB, the weather's nicer, if he wanted to come back for another kick at the can or two with Brady than more power to him. Might even try to fly down for a game if we're ever allowed to go outside again.

With Brate and Howard on the roster, Gronk doesn't have to be the Man. Wouldn't expect him to see 80% of TB's snaps this season. Even if they went double TE sets all the time, that's still 67% of the snaps for all 3 TE. Expect Brady to target Gronk the most of the TE in the red zone as the trust is there.

Rob Gronkowski admits to having nearly 20 concussions, blacking out five times in his NFL career with Patriots

A year away does not do much for stuff life brain injuries. Its the accumulation of them which really puts you in jeopardy. 20 concussions and 9 surgeries is no joke. He's one hit away from spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair or as a vegetable.

They could always play Gronk at safety.
