It's not surprising when you consider the Women's Final Four is in a BASKETBALL arena, where all 19,000 seats are good.

while the Men's Final Four is in a FOOTBALL stadium, with 80,000 seats, a lot of which are really bad.

Football arena or not, $40 to get into the championship game is still pretty insane. Just being in the building for something like that is special.

It's not much deeper than 4x the number of seats in the venue plus a men's Final Four that with 2 mid majors playing each other and only 1 traditional power out of the 4.

Not only that, its the traditional power with easily the smallest local and nationwide fanbase (UConn)

Same way a World Series between the DBacks and Rays will have much cheaper seats than one between the Dodgers and Yankees

You literally made me think "Hmm, that's 90 minutes away... I could go...." and explore it.

I was thinking the same thing when I posted it... if that was anywhere in driving distance of Raleigh I'd take a ticket just to get in the door and wander around soaking up the scene. I've been to a lot less interesting places for $40.

Sure, but $40 tickets to a World Series game would be completely insane regardless of who's playing. Same is the case here.

The main reason for the difference in price has nothing to do with the teams, it's the fact that it's BASKETBALL in a FOOTBALL stadium.

There's seats that are fine for football, and there are seats that are really bad for basketball in the stadium because there's just STUFF on the field between you and the court platform. The LOW endzone seats have TV sets and baskets in the way. That kind of thing.

Here's the worst seat I could find on the internet from NRG Stadium, and it isn't actually the worst seat, it's a lower bowl seat...

THIS is literally the worst seat in Dallas's NBA/NHL arena for an NCAA tournament. That I took, because I bought that ticket and flew in to see my team (then moved down when all the local fans left).

I wouldn't pay $40 to go sit at the tippy top of a football stadium and watch the game on a jumbotron because the players look like ants.

I’ve been to two Final Fours…one at this stadium in the awful seats…

Well worth it for $40 just to say you’ve done it…

I'd agree when it's not MY team. If my team was in the Final Four, I'd be paying A LOT MORE for good seats.

I'm also not a good litmus test because I've worked tons of NCAA Tournament games (none in the Final Four) so to me, the idea of paying $40 to be a mile away is not appealing for the experience, since I've sat at the scorers table, or been the guy handing out Final Four hats/shirts.

I bought the cheap seats for my team in the NCAA Tournament because I knew that half the arena would clear out after Texas Tech/Stephen F Austin finished.

I’ve never done opening round in Dayton, but I’ve done every other round multiple times and they all have a different vibe to them (I assume partly associated with venue and proximity to the schools playing) so I’d still highly recommend a Final Four trip…

But I can definitely see that after being court-side for an Elite Eight game, the nose bleeds for the Final Four might be a let down…
