Terrific read about n NCAA hockey player,Kevin Shier who saved the life of a National Guardsman, Timothy Neild. , at the risk of his own. Shier and his father were driving home last December when they saw a pickup truck on fire at the side of the road. Shier helped cut the seatbelt trapping Nield in the truck and dragged to safety just before the truck exploded. The severely injured Guardsman was in a coma for awhile and finally got to meet the man who saved his life before a game.

Before the game, Neild pinned the New York Conspicuous Service Medal on Shier, which ranks only behind the Medal of Valor as far as these honors go.

That's very cool...and that's a hero.
