NBAPA would never approve that, players enjoy having summer off to relax and unwind with friends and family. If anything season should start like a 1-2 after NHL like they did last season.

Honestly asking but how badly does the NBA get hurt by the NFL? Not many really care passionately about early season basketball and their playoffs still shine at that time of year.

I just dont see a huge jump happening and think this is an over reaction to the bad drop in ratings this year.

Also, maybe its just the Prairies in me speaking but the las t thing I want to do after a long winter is sit inside an arena.

But will league stop to allow players to participate in Olympics?

Nominally not an issue as the NBA season is well over before the Olympics start.

However, the NBA season could end in the summer and overlap the Olympic dates. And/or the Olympics get delayed (especially as so many preliminary/qualifying events are cancelled/postponed) until the fall and interfere with the (start) of the 20-21 NBA season.
