Proposal: Nashville/ Buffalo

K. Fiala + 3rd for T. Thompson, A. Nylander, 2nd

The idea behind this is for Nashville to clear some cap space so they can go hard for a 2019 UFA either at the trade deadline ( which wouldn't just be a rental), or on July 1st. Thompson and/ or Nylander could be part of that deal. Losing Fiala doesn't hurt as they are deep on LW, and this gives Tolvanen a spot at 2nd line LW. Buffalo turns two decent W prospects into a proven 21 yo top 6 LW which they desperately need.

This is awful for Nashville. We're not trading a top 6 forward we just spent years developing as soon as he breaks out.

You certainly missed that Fiala is by far the best player in the deal.

I'm not seeing any reason Nashville does this.

Heck, they could both become better than Fiala. Who knows. But the fatal flaw in this proposal is that it just totally ignores the fact that Nashville is trying to win a Stanley Cup right now... this season is more important to the Preds than anything Tage or Nylander "might" do in the next 10 years. Any trade which offers futures to the Preds is likely to be intrinsically flawed.
