Toronto loses Nylander Zaitsev, and kadri gets karlasson bonino and a 3rd round pick. They might lose a couple pieces but get the one of the best defenseman in the league. And a replacement defensive 3rd line center.


Ottawa loses Karlasson and stone gets subban Craig Smith, kadri and 1st round pick


Ottawa loses karlasson one of best defenseman in the league but recieves another one with term. They get a 1 2 punch with duchene and kadri and a 20 goal scorer with Craig Smith. With this move they don't have to go in full rebuild and can still complete


Nashville loses subban bonino, Craig Smith and a 1st round pick and a 3 round pick. They add Nylander a young Swede who can play center or wing. A top 4 who can play with Josi. And stone a right winger who upgrades the top 6
Nashville loses a lot on their defense with losing subban but gets a major upgrade on there forwards

Preliminary thoughts -> We have to be the clear winners of every trade. They would need to retain something on Karlsson's salary somehow at the minimum ...... maybe swap out Nylander for a lesser asset as well.

EK is an amazing defender but not what the Leafs need at all style wise or contract wise.

Im a nash. fan and I thought we do pretty good. Zaitsev had a down year but he'd do good next to josi. Pair Ellis/ekholm together again. Mark stone and William nylander on rw would be amazing additions. Having wings of forsberg, RV, fiala, stone, tolvanen, nylander would be amazing depth. Meanwhile this is about a cap neutral move for us.

Bonino is overpaid and jarnkrok/sissons could fill the roll of 3c or nylander could challenge turris for 2c and push him down to 3c leaving jarnkrok at rw. Nylander is 21 still has lots of room to grown. Smith is 28 nearing the back end of his prime years and has averaged a 44 point per season pace over the past 5 seasons. Stone would give us another forsberg caliber player on the rw giving the team tremendous depth at forward while sacrificing at defense some. Would give us the ability to roll three strong scoring lines...

You do know who Mark Stone is right? He would likely be your 2nd best forward. He's extremely valuable.

If you ask me, Subban+low first for Nylander and Stone is an incredible haul.

You've lost it. Nylander is pacing with Forsberg's career, and Stone is Bergeron but on the Wing.

Only issue I have is that Nylander may never play C, in which case, doesn't fill the obivous need.

then this is the deal to accomplish that. the leafs wouldn't be gutting their team by making this trade. they would get a replacement on the right side defense, a huge one at that, and they get a downgrade upfront, but not as big as the upgrade from karlsson to zaitsev. they have the depth to replace nylander as well.
