A true PRO/REL hockey set up. Start small, continually expand.

10 teams to start in 2 tiers (20 total) - obviously in non-NHL markets...at first.

NAPL 1:

Portland
Houston
Milwaukee
Sacramento
Kansas City
Cleveland
Hartford
Victoria
Saskatoon
Hamilton

NAPL 2:

Spokane
Omaha
Madison
Providence
Manchester
Red Deer
Regina
London
Sherbrooke
Halifax

Maybe Jim Balsillie will provide some seed money? ;)

Would much prefer something like this in Canada.

If the CHL had it, you'd have the perfect set up.

Top 4 teams from OHL, WHL, QLeage.
For a 12 team total.

In either scenario you would have to start from regional leagues, as a 2nd tier couldn't handle continental travel.

why not just ask all of the prospective owners to dump wheelbarrow's full of cash into a dumpster and then set it on fire ?

the same net result without the incovenient waiting.

So, since I seem to be unable find anything about this on the web, I assume that this is simply a theoretical concept and not an actual league that someone is starting. If so, shouldn't that be expressed in the title or the first post?

Maybe Jim Balsillie will tell you to lay off the drugs and keep the stupid soccer schemes in Europe with the stupid soccer.

Arguing the non-feasibility of pro-rel in North America drives me crazy enough when I have to do it on a soccer board. If I have to start doing it on a hockey board, it very well may put me in the looney bin.

Here's the case against pro-rel in North America (in any sport):

- The culture of North American (for purposes of this argument, NA is the US and Canada) sport is based on closed franchise leagues.

- The business (as well as many sporting) practices of North American sport is based on closed franchise leagues.

Hopefully, I don't have to repeat myself.

There's always room for new business models.

I live near Milwaukee. This is the first that I have heard of this "league".

Cleveland is an eight hour drive. KC is 8.5 hours away. They would be the closest!

Madison? Good luck competing against the Badgers hockey teams. The women will outdraw that team!

This is his creation. Nothing real to it whatsoever.

Can someone please change the thread title to something that indicates this is pure daydreaming rather than a real proposal...
