Interesting.

But I can't help but think that when someone does a list as long as this, there are gonna be some "reputation" rankings. For example, I fail to see how Jonathan Ericsson or Alexei Emelin can be higher than Danny DeKeyser. And that's just one example, I could give others but let's just start with this one. Do you have any reasons for that specific ranking?

Edit: Didn't see DeKeyser...

DeKeyser is 66th, higher than both Ericsson and Emelin...

I ll make a list perhaps if I feel like it after work.
Well done obviously people will have issues with anyone's top 90. Doing even a top 10 is hard enough.

And if I do a top 90 it will mostly be weighted to this season and passed seasons less.

List of players who would be in a very different position on my list.

Yep, as Vatanen wouldn't even make the list. If it was only about offense, that position would be OK. (about 60 "first pairing D-men", about 30 "second pairing D-men").

Wow my bad, I'm blind ^^

Edit: I noticed some other things I didn't see properly. All I can say is that I think you did a good job with your list then! It doesn't seem biased and seems at least a bit researched, I appreciate that.

Brooks Orpik is better (about 28 spots ahead actually) than Braydon Coburn? Coburn at 70 is absolutely ridiculous.

<My team's defenseman> is too low. <My rival team's defenseman> is too high. He's a bum.

Seriously, though - nice effort for a 90-player list.

yea, if you were coaching a team in the Stanley Cup why would you want a defenseman who could make a claim to two Conn Smythes and he might actually win one this year based on the way he's playing.

Keith is #1 AINEC. he's quite simply the best playoff defenseman in the league over the past several years. Doughty is #2 in that department.

I disagree with you, I think Doughty is a better playoff defenseman than Keith is, but really any team would be lucky to have either.

I have Keith in the 3-5 range personally. Which is not a knock at him at all, I just like Weber and Doughty better.

I try to guess whether they're too high or too low.

26 Dan Girardi - too high
38 Dion Phaneuf - too high
45 Anton Stralman - too low
49 Chris Tanev - too low
60 Niklas Hjalmarsson - too low
64 Jake Muzzin - too low
74 Jacob Trouba - too low
82 Alexei Emelin - too low
86 Carl Gunnarsson - too low
87 Sami Vatanen - too low
88 John Klingberg - too low

My list would be a complete and utter joke compared to the OP.
