At #6 Phoenix would take Schenn, Cowen or Larsson. LA would not pass on MPS at #5

Well, in the Oilers situation we have plenty of offensive defenseman. We have other holes to fill.

The draft isn't the place to fill holes.

In this case, I'd probably rather take Schroeder over Ellis, but it has nothing to do with need.

I agree with this, a team never loose when picking the BPA. If they try to fill a specific hole with a first round pick it often leads to a disaster.

Wouldn't be really surprised if a team like LA really liked Kadri but if they did i think they would do what the Isles last year and trade down for him.

Im guessing the Leafs would want to move up to 5 to try and ensure they get Schenn and the Stars I could easily see trying to move up as well to get the D-man they want (Cowen or OEL) and Kadri would still be on the board at 7 or 8.

Actually NJ selected 2 goalies in the first round in 3 years. JF Damphousse in 97 and Ari Ahonen in 99 even though Brodeur was in his prime and won them a cup 95.

Just thought I'd mention that.

1, 2, 3- Tavares, Hedman, Duchene- very clear cut top 3 IMO
4- Kane, fits perfectly in Atlanta
5. MSP, LAs lone prospect weakness is LW, Kopitar, Stoll, Boyle, and Lewis is a solid group of centers.
6. Cowen, Phoenix has Mueller, Turris, Tikhonov, Porter as guys who can play center, they need a blue chip d-man.
7. Schenn

I really don't think it is that unlikely they get him.
