I dont get why Bergie doesnt deal our two power play specialists in Weal and Cousins. You would think he could get a lot for any team trying to upgrade their PP

what if he said he wanted to go to free agency? some people will complain about anything.

I would have still kept him. In the last decade, too many times we lost face-offs and the blood pressure went up. He was good at that and helped the team. Yes, bad for the tank, but good for the blood pressure.

Thompson was one of the worst forwards in the NHL in terms of impact

I believe his impact was much greater than whatever stat you point to because of the face-offs.

Kind underwhelming after the 2nd for Scandella... we have so many 3/4/5 round pick couldn’t we package Thomson with picks to move down instead of getting a other 5th...

The market is all over the place. IMO Thompson this year is better than Plekanec was when we traded him to the Leafs. But Pleks got a 2nd plus two B/C prospects - one of whom turned into Kulak. And Thompson got us a 5th. It is what it is.

Being good at faceoffs has literally little to no impact on winning games because it's nothing more than a slightly biased coin toss, and very little goals are scored directly off a faceoff win

I’m sick of accumulating all these picks that are ultimately worthless because we suck at drafting. Either sell off actual talent and get a first round pick or get outta here.

Zone time happens. you lose a defensive faceoff and spend 45 seconds in your own zone with pressure, your D gets tired and that impacts.... Same the other way.

These are good trades, but I'm waiting to see who Bergevin picks up to replace these guys on the roster.

IMO, it would be best to leave the Laval prospects in Laval, to compete for a playoff spot.

There's almost no correlation (aka it's not significan) between shooting metrics (aka what we use as possession metrics for the time being) and faceoff wins. Or just g±/60 and faceoffs. Or wins and faceoffs.

Given that you can't measure tiredness and its impact on the game, we'll just have to disagree. Zone pressure and zone time also produces momentum shifts, another thing not measurable. So you are absolutely correct that I cannot give you a statistic that measure importance of FO wins but given the statistics of a 5th rounder having a direct impact, I'll guess its pretty close in significance to your disregard for FO wins.
