We are in a battlefor a playoff spot and we still didnt fill our worst position, I think we could make a trade to fill it now and for the future and Carolina is full of young D. I wanna hear your proposals!
But here is mine :
To Montreal : Bean
To Carolina : Ylonen, Ikonen and 2019 2n round pick

Meh...I’ll admit to not knowing much about those prospects. I’d imagine CAR is perfectly happy to keep Bean, who’s tracking very nicely in his first pro season, and I think they’d only trade him for a similarly tracking forward. The fact that you’re offering 2 prospects and a pick implies to me that Bean is currently the best prospect in the deal, so I don’t think you’d see CAR so that trade.

Canes looking for quality for quality trades. I think if Montreal wanted Bean then they’d have to deal a similar recent 1st rounder in Suzuki or Poehling.

Canes have a deep prospect pool. They don’t benefit much from diluting an A prospect into a few B prospects. The Charlotte Checkers are already stacked to the rafters with talent and have a 9 point lead on the entire AHL.

This is such an overpayment for a young D that is trending downward since he was drafted. At the moment, I have no interest in Bean unless it’s a similar RHD going the other way (Fleury/Juulsen) and from what insiders are saying, Carolina is looking to get rid of a RHD, not add another one.

No deal to be made here. Let’s move on onto the next thread

Trending downward? He has 26 points in 43 games as a rookie in a pro league. Questionable

the 2 games he played with the Canes this year were so freaking bad. He is doing better in the AHL I gotta give it to you!

Value wise the best swap is cale fleury for Bean ( fleury been AMAZING in Laval since his injury)

I would do something like Lehkonen for Bean

Actually this is a decent offer, but seems to be a HABs overpayment.

HABs are essentially offering 3 - 2nds for Canes 1st-13th overall. Bean has been better, but bordering to "bust" status. He was terrible or cringe worthy at the WJC. Canes get 3 prospects to build for the future or package in other trades. All players are not playing in the NHL, so there is no immediate impact to their rosters.

Done deal by the Canes.

TIL that a Rookie AHL D who is the #1 on the best team in the AHL, #1 in roookie defenseman scoring, and ~top-10 in overall D points is "trending downward".

Why make such a sweeping statement if you have so little understanding of his actual development?

I don't necessarily agree that they were that bad...he didn't get a lot of ice time just because Rod wanted to shelter him. He had a few good breakouts but wasn't overly noticeable either way.

You have a very strong opinion of Bean for someone who has no clue what they’re talking about.

Using the world juniors as your supporting evidence for calling him a bust is hilarious.

Bean was trending downwards near bust levels.

Canes need Forwards. So why did the Canes overpay for a LHD injury prone De Haan to a massive 4 year deal at $4.6M per to be on the 3rd line? A role perfectly suited for Bean on a protected bottom pairing.

LHDs contracts:
  • Slavin - Signed 2024/25 or 6+ years;
  • Pesce - Signed 2023/24 or 5+ years; (RH playing LHD)
  • de Haan - Signed 2021/22 or 3+ years.
The actions of the team is blatantly obvious, Bean was drafted nearly 3 years ago and there are long term deals for all the LHDs on the team. They even shifted RH Pesce to LHD. Canes have low expectations on his development will unlikely be an impact LHD in the NHL.

Brett Pesce has literally never taken a single NHL shift on the left side.

Bean is not trending downwards or busting. He is having a great first year as a pro on a team that is dominating the ahl.

Carolina did not overpay for de Haan and why would you pass up on a top 4 defenseman because you have a prospect in the pipeline? Signing him doesn’t say anything about Bean.

Because of their insane depth at rd Carolina has had to have a rd playing their offside all year. Usually it’s tvr. They’re working on clearing up that logjam. Have you missed all the trade talk?

I actually hope you're right, but this would seem Bean is more of a bust.

Team Line Combinations

Yup, Bean is a bust because he didn’t step right into the nhl straight from juniors.

He’s the first offensive defenseman to need to gain some experience in the ahl. Carolina definitely is showing they have no confidence in him by wanting to develop him properly. What a bust.
