Who do you think is the next most valuable Oiler?

Consider age, contract, injury history, positional value, leadership, potential, etc... Ignore team need. One way of thinking of it would be: in a trade to a neutral team, who would bring the greatest return?

How is Sekera still on the board????? This is trade value. Not "who needs to be better on the team". Sekera should have been placed either immediately above or below RNH. Not somewhere below Yak, who has MINIMAL trade value at the moment.

Also, Mc5RingsAndABeer, Nurse is valuable, but not so valuable as to be listed twice...

Changed the title to make it more obvious that it's trade value

I'll add Yakimov next unless anyone has any other suggestions

I think Sekera should definitely go here too.

I voted for all of the rest above Sekera because contracts and age are factors in trade value as well. Sekera is better than many of the players above, but is 29 and on a 5.5M/year contract. Those are not bad, however Yakupov is 21 and under 3M/year while also RFA in the future, similar with Klefblom, Nurse, Draisaitl, etc. Those factors boost his trade value above what it would be otherwise.

It doesn't help too that most of us haven't seen Sekera playing too much, and cannot accurately judge much about him until we see him in Oilers silk.

Sekera has much more trade value and value to the oilers to be 9th on this list. Drai, Klefbom, and Yakupov would fetch far less in any trade. The over-valuing of oilers prospects on these boards has never been so present as it is on this poll

Voted Reinhart just paid the 16th and 33rd in a deep draft don't think Sekera at 29 and a 5.5 cap hit x6 years would get that much in value if traded. No trade clause also lowers his value.

Klefbom and Drai are easily more valuable imo. I highly doubt any team wouldn't give up what Sekera just returned in order to snag a 21 year old top 4 dman, and Draisaitl is a recent 3rd overall who just destroyed major junior. I'll give you that Yakupov is debatable, because he struggled under Eakins

Griffin Reinhart… don't know Sekera would get Barzal + 33rd overall in stacked draft…That is Reinhart's proven value, so he is next for me.

Advantages that Klef/Yak have over Sekera, in terms of trade value:
-they earn less money (and won't be UFAs for a while)
-they are younger and may be expected to improve
-Yak, especially, is very talented and still has the highest ceiling of any of them

Really all Sekera has is that he's better right now. You know what you're getting with him, but there isn't that chance for a "home run" that you could get by trading for a young player.

I disagree. Sekera is good but he's 29 on a 6 year contract making 5.5. The only case you could make he's more valuable than is Yak, and Yak's a former 1OA pick. That's not really a knock on Sekera.

Sekera for sure.

Would have thought he'd have more value than Yakupov as well.
