I think we know the answer, we just don't like it. It's become one of those topics you can't bring up in polite conversation like history, religion, and politics.

Voted Arcobello because I think he'll surprise more than a few people this season... but Yakimov is the guy I wouldn't want to part with on that list above. Edge to Arcobello simply because he's "ready to go"... Yakimov still has to get his feet wet in NA.

Alright, then I'll change my original snarky remark from "I have to assume our #2 center is more valuable than the captain and 5th defenseman." to "I have to assume our #2 center is more valuable than the captain and 5th defenseman to any other team". Happy?

3 more years of a 35 year old 5th defenseman being paid 3.25 million on a really bad team would probably have negative trade value to a well run team. Whereas, a 26 year old undersized center who scored 96 points in his last 89 AHL games would garner some interest on potential alone. Even if you discount his brief fill in role as a 2C. The only way I see Ference having trade value is if this is the last year of his contract and he waives the NMC to go to a contender at the deadline, then he MIGHT get more of a return than Arcobello.
