This one's additionally fascinating for all the footage Malick DIDN'T use. Bill Pullman, Lukas Haas, Mickey Rourke and Billy Bob Thornton (narrator) were cut completely out of the movie. A pre-fame Adrian Brody had a much bigger role that was chopped down. Clooney is barely in it (I can't even remember if you hear him speak because I think there's voice over in his one scene).

Haven't read the thread so these probably got mentioned, but here are some personal favorites or ones I remember with ensemble casts/big stars:

-A Bridge too Far
-The Longest Day
-It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World.
-Murder on the Orient Express (the Albert Finney version)
-The Greatest Story Ever Told
-Death on the Nile (Peter Ustinov version)

This came to my mind as well.

I usually hate movies with big name casts - it detracts from the movie.

Give me a couple no name quality actors any day.

Longest Day and A Bridge too Far have some of the most absurd star power I have ever seen in a movie.

Also I always found it funny growing up how everyone knew Anthony Hopkins from Silence of the Lambs where I had only seen Bridge too Far so that was the first role I knew him from.

All of the disaster movies were filled with the biggest stars of the day.

The Dead Don't Die is a recent Indie that has a exceptionally well-known cast for a small production.
