As the title says, what is the best/most elite defense core thats been put together in the last 10 years?

As in overall 1-6 D, pairing, or entire team defense? If you talk about entire team defense the Blues 2011-2012 and lockout season were insane to the max. Just pure blueline, I'd say Chicago in 2013-2014, and 2014-2015, when they had Leddy as a 5th D. Speaking of which, Weber should have won the Norris over Keith in 2013-2014, as Weber was the only competent D on the Preds that year (Josi was a weak offensive D, and Klein was very bad, while Jones was a rookie).

Canucks 2011. Only made possible by a Salo LTIR, else would have been over cap.

What is this even. None of this is true.

This was also a d-corps with Ekholm-MDZ-Ellis as 5-6-7

Just a filthy unit altogether.

Ellis nearly seemed like a bust until Laviolette came. Ekholm was alright, but he was just a stay at home guy that year. MDZ was terrible and shouldn't have ever wore a Preds jersey.

MDZ Streit
Grossmann AMac
Schultz Schenn
Colaiacovo Coburn(39 games)

As awful as that is, 4 of those guys are still on the roster with us winning 10 straight...lol.

In reality though, I vote for Anaheim.

The Bruins Cup roster ranks up there. Maybe the most consistent group of six d-men next to the Hawks.

Chara
Siedenberg
Kaberle
McQuaid
Boychuk
Ference

Yeah, but Leddy wasn't very good in CHI.

The bottom pairing garbage that you left out for some reason hurts the defense... Lilja... Lebda.. ew

Yeah, but those guys were only playing 12-14 minutes a game.

The top pairing of Lidstrom-Rafalski was the best pairing in the league that year and Kronwall-Stuart was probably the best 2nd pairing that season and postseason once Detroit acquired Stuart. They were certainly the hardest hitting pair that postseason. So the top 4 was a lethal mix that was on the ice nearly 80% of the game.

07 Anaheim with Pronger and Neids anchoring the top two pairings was great too. They were 2 of the top 3 defencemen in the world and seemingly always on the ice.
