Excluding rookie contracts who do you think has delivered the most value for money to their team?

Personally I think at least Teuvo Teräväinen at 2,86 is at least worthy of a mention. Eric Staal at 3,5 has also more than delivered.

Who are your picks?

Aurora, On.
Leafs have Kadri and Brown on ridiculously team friendly contracts.

JT is a steal. As if Kuch. (pointed out above)

Josi is on a steal of a deal as well but check out Ekholm. Even cheaper and for 2 extra years.

For the Flames right now, Micheal Ferland. 1.75 million and has 10 goals/14 points through 22 games. I'm not expecting him to continue at that pace but even if he put up 20-25 goals it'd be a great season for him.

That's a good one. That whole line is a pretty good bang for it's buck. Total cap hit of like 14.8M for 35g 74p in 23 games (68 total man games)? That's 6 points above a point per game pace for an average of $4.9M per player.

Not sure there are many trios who can get you that sort of production at that price (ignoring rookie contracts of course). Heck, you'd need McDavid to carry two $1.2M wingers to that sort of production.

I do wonder why you think Ferland will slow down to a 20-25 goal pace? He could have easily had 2-3 more goals last night. Since joining the top line, he's 34th in the league in goals with 17g 25p in 43 games while averaging only 14:24. Almost all of that production has come at ES. That's a 32 goal pace with minimal ice time and minimal PP opportunities.

His shooting percentage of 19% over that period seems high, but if he stays with Johnny Gaudreau I think 14-18% is totally reasonable for a guy with his release. Any regression in shooting percentage should be offset by continued ice time increases. He's just now starting to get true top 6 minutes.

Here are his averages split by ice time this season:

>13:50 TOI:
17gp 9g 13p 45 shots
0.53 GPG 0.75 PPG 2.65 SOG 15:12 TOI
< 13:50 TOI:
5gp 1g 1p 5 shots.
0.20 GPG 0.20 PPG 1.00 SOG 11:25 TOI

Those 5 games under 13 minutes came in consecutive games after he was pushed off the top line. So he's really put up 16g 24p in 38gp while actually playing on the top line - a 35g 52p pace. Since that 5 game demotion, he's got 8g 12p in 14gp.

Couturier at 4.33 million is looking quite nice this year.

Simmonds at 3.975 million is the usual Flyers answer.
