Okay guys, with all Zegras hype, just look at what Moritz Seider is doing.

He is scoring double the amount of points vs Victor Hedman at same age. 46-point pace, when Hedman first seasons were 20 and 26 points. And he is 1st defenceman for Detroit, only Raymond is playing at 1st line role of others. Other are 2nd or 3rd line center or middle6 wingers.

I also projected points after January 1st, and that forward group is quite equal. Think Lundell is gonna score more points, because he is really thriwing at the moment. Think he is gonna challenge Seider most.

Zegras is only the 2nd line center. Still Getzlaf logging bigger minutes.

Since January 1st:

Anton Lundell, 13 games, 3+9=12 points, +12, 16:23 min (0.92 ppg)
Tanner Jeannot, 13 games, 5+3=8 points, +4, 15:37 min (0.62 ppg)
Trevor Zegras, 10 games, 4+3=7points, -5, 18:52 min (0.70 ppg)
Moritz Seider, 11 games, 1+5=6 points, -2, 22:42 min (0.55 ppg)
Lucas Raymond, 11 games, 1+5=6, +0, 19:46 min (0.55 ppg)

If Lundell will keep that scoring pace, he will score most points of all.

With 0.92 pace = 35 extra points 38 games for Lundell
With 0.55 pace = 23 extra points for 41 games Raymond/Seider
With .070 pace = 25 extra points in 36 games for Zegras

Season end Estimations:

Lundell, 78 games, 23+39 = 62 points
Zegras, 75 games, 21+36 = 57 points
Raymond, 82 games, 18+39 = 57 points
Jeannot, 82 games, 24+25=49 points
Seider, 82 games, 8+38 = 46 points

Still think this Seider pace for +40 points is greater thing than any forward is doing. that's why Detroit has had a turnaround from crap team to legit team.

Hedman did put 20-point and 26-point seasons as 19-20 year old / 20-21 year old. Depends which one of the season from Hedman you compare for Seider, thank's to half-year difference in age. But Seider is beating those numbers easily. Seider is 20 now and turns 21 in late April. Aaron Ekblad's season when winning Calder was 12+27=39 points at 81 games. 21:49min per game. Seider is playing almost 1 minute more and scoring more.

It's obvious. Detroit has a gem and Seider is the by far THE BEST rookie of this group.

That's a lot of work considering there is still half a season left and anything can happen

If the season ended literally right now, sure, I'd guess fanbases would agree Seider should win, despite what the NHL panel says.

No sarcasm there. Seider should win the Calder if things stay the way they are.

Yeah, but Seider has natural talent and stamina to play high minutes etc. He looks never tired and those combine values match the eye-test.

Rookies usually cool down during a long season, but my prediction is that Seider will cool down least.

If this was to hold, I don't think Seider wins.

But bottom line is I just think everyone needs to take a step back and chill. The discourse around this rookie class has gotten very heated, which has to do with so many of them doing good things.
Let things play out.. at the end of the season it's pretty likely that one of these guys stands out.. it will look pretty silly if Zegras or Lundell get 70+ points and Seider 45 to argue for Seider.

I’d go a step further and say it’s not even clear if Raymond or Zegras or Lundell is above eachother. I’d probably give the edge to Lundell due to his utility and defensive game but he does have a much better team than the other 2 to be fair.
wings fans care waaaaaayyyyyyyy too much about this

it's getting kind of weird
Sounds like projection, it’s a hockey forum and I agree I’d take the 20 year old 1D as more valuable than the 20 year old 2C.
