dirk was great in that series but people act like he carried that squad and that they didn't have a lot of good pieces

Did Dirk have a 2nd option even anywhere as good as Kyrie was playing though??
I was a casual at that point, but I do remember being quite amused that this new super Heat team was choking so hard.

Dirk averaged 26 + 10 while missing only one free throw the entire Finals. The next closest scorer to him was Jason Terry, who averaged 18 points.

LeBron's stat line in 2016 was unbelievable, 30/11/9 with 3 steals and 2 blocks per game. However, he had Kyrie Irving also averaging 27/4/4 with 2 steals per game. Kyrie also was the guy to hit the big shot in game 7, not LeBron.

I think what is more impressive, to me, is Dirk beating that Miami team in 6 games.

Especially when everyone said it would be impossible and that he would fall to the Heat yet again. After the "not 5 not 6 not 7 etc" bullcrap I have never been so happy to see a non-fav team win a championship.

As I remember the Mavs 2011 run, Kidd was the main piece in the 1st round against Portland. Terry/Baera/Dirk/Peja killed the Lakers in that sweep. Dirk torched the young Thunder in the WCFs, and the Mavs in general led the way in the Finals (Terry IIRC had several big shots in games 4 and 5 and Tyson Chandler grabbed several key rebounds). Dallas had incredible balance and bench strength that year and proved to be a matchup nightmare at all positions for all 4 playoff opponents.

So my vote goes to LeBron, although I loved that Dirk finally shed the "choker" label.

I'll go 2016 LeBron because of opponent difficulty degree

Dallas/Miami in 2011 were separated record-wise by only 1 game (Miami won 58 games, Dallas 57).

Cleveland was 16 games worse than Golden State record-wise.

Not only did LeBron will them with those two 40+ point games, but they were also down 2-0, so it was a double comeback. First team to ever come back from 3-1 AND the 4th time ever a team came back from an 0-2 Finals deficit.

Throw in the Warriors having a 73-9 historic year, going for a repeat, trying to cement immortality.

this.

Kyrie was the one to step up and drain the Championship winning 3

and scored 41, 23, 26 in the 3 game comeback on 34-65 (52%) shooting, 9-17 from 3 (53%), and a perfect 13-13 at the line.

As good as he was in games 5 and 6, LeBron was not good in game 7.

Yes he had the triple double, but he also only shot 9-24 (37%), 1-5 from 3 and had 5 turnovers
