On the scoreboard, the Caps won.

Morally, who did?

I can see the Rangers case. They are not a tough team but still fought six times. Panarin posted the Rangers crest on his IG. Great team building exercise.

But surely the Caps won a lot more?

1) They won most of the fights, including the Wilson one.

2) Oshie had a hattrick the game after this father passed. Cried and bonded with his team.

3) Buchnevich lost his mind and crosschecked Mantha which will probably result in a harsher punishment than Wilson received, losing the moral high ground.

So, who got the moral victory last night?

Both teams can take away positives from it. The Rangers for having a backbone. They've developed a bit of a reputation for being a soft team, and they've now showed everyone that they're capable of sticking up for themselves. Not to mention, bringing the players together to stand up for your best player.

The Capitals benefitted because being involved in these line brawls really bring a team together sometimes. It was a highly emotional game, with the fights, and Oshie's hattrick. This will surely prepare them for the battle about to come in the playoffs.
