-Benn ain't waiving for Montreal.
-Benn hasn't looked himself the last couple of seasons.
-Montreal acquired Tatar because they didn't want to sign a high-end LWer from the 2007 draft well into his 30s for big money. I doubt they would suddenly be interested in Benn.

MTL says no. To be clear, Benn may still be the better player in spite of the last two seasons, but his contract will be a damn pain, especially with a flat cap.

DAL has managed to save on the D men deals but the Seguin, Benn and Pavelski contracts are going to get more and more problematic.

MTL real need is a proven 1C, let trade one of their top two C and a winger to get another winger. One that hasn’t been trending in the right direction to boot.....Classic

Just out of curiosity, what does the 2007 draft have to do with anything?

The Benns will be reunited though. A no from Montreal.

Jordie has signed a contract with Vancouver last summer.

The only thing you’re right about is the no from Montreal. 9.5M for 5 more years for a a winger in his 30’s that started to decline already on a cap staying flat for a couple of years is a very easy no

Max Pacioretty and Benn were drafted in the 2007 draft. I was just highlighting that Montreal already showed they didn't want to commit to an older winger for long term when they had one.

After Bowness doesn’t get kept as head coach and Dallas hires Jim Nill’s old buddy Gerard Gallant to coach the team, Benn (and the rest of the team) will score more.

Benn still has 30/30 potential for a few more seasons, and while that isn’t what you ideally get from a high dollar contract, it’s not enough to tank the team.

Easy no for Montreal. Benn might not even have positive value based on contract to performance ratio.
